Magic of the Demon Fae (Demonfae, #1) - Ava Mason Page 0,3

my hip. I offered it to him, biting down on my lip to keep from smiling. “Want one?”

“Sure.” Not bothering to thank me, he shoved it into the pocket of his black skinny jeans.

Twirling my charm pop on my tongue, I nodded towards the Stingray. “Your car?”

“I’m not sure what’s wrong with it. That’s why we brought it here.” The corner of his lip tilted up in a smirk like it was super obvious why he’d brought his car in. Jerk.

I decided I hated him.

Except for the little annoying fact that I also wanted to jump his bones.

Did I mention his red, gleaming hair? It was so shiny and alluring I wanted to run my hand through it. I was a sucker for that blatant display of fighting genes.

Damnit. I was in some serious trouble. I wanted to hate-jump him.

“I’m Nix.” He jerked his head to his car-pushing friend, who’d yet to say a word. “And this is Maverick.”

I nodded my head, not even looking at the friend. “Nice to meet you, but I don’t work with idiots.” I gave Nix a cheeky grin. “But the mechanic up the street does.”

Again, Nix didn’t react how I’d expected. Instead of getting angry, he put his hand to his heart. “You wound me. Tell me, what makes you call me, a person you just met, an idiot?”

“Your car making a knocking noise?”

He nodded. “Yeah.”

“Your engine’s busted. I smell burnt oil. When’s the last time you changed it?”

Nix’s smile faltered. “Change?”

I sighed heavily. “You’re supposed to change your oil regularly, otherwise it gets dirty and dries out. Then your engine’s focked.” I turned away, reaching up to close my bay doors. “I’m done for the night.” I thought about the wiring I was probably going to have to redo in the morning. “In fact, I’m booked months out. I don’t have time for an engine redo.” I grabbed the door and tugged it down, glancing back over at them.

Nix still stared at me but Maverick was studying the almost-empty bay, with only the Lamborghini inside. There were no other cars in the parking lot except my own rusted orange 1969 Pontiac Firebird.

Unfortunately, the owner of said Lamborghini was the only customer I’d had all week. My shop was placed near the freeway of an otherwise small town, so I was either busting at the seams with emergencies from traveling customers, or dead as crickets.

Nix raised his eyebrow. “Is that so?”

“Yep. Give me your number and then I’ll help you push your car to Billy’s shop.” I pulled the bay door all the way down, took out my cell, and punched in ‘idiots’ as the contact name. “I’ll make sure and give him your information in the morning. Just leave your keys on the dash, no one’ll steal it.”

Maverick stepped forward, his hand catching my wrist and I gasped. I just let a demon touch me.

I tried to pull away but was caught in his intense stare. He was incredibly tall, at least six foot seven, and had dark brown eyes, the edges lined a dark rose color. I was sure they’d glow red when he was angry. His body was much wider than Nix’s, who was more lean and lithe, while Maverick probably pumped iron for four hours a day. He had dark, tanned skin and his white t-shirt showed off the wisp of a tattoo that snaked up his arm. His thumb softly traced along the underside of my wrist, sending a tingling sensation up my arm. “Cielo, I need you to do this for us.”

Something inside me softened, and my stomach fluttered with butterflies. His deep eyes seemed to swallow me whole.

No. These were demons. I frowned, yanking my arm out of his grip. “Like hell I will. And don’t call me that. I don’t know what it means but I already hate it.” Despite my words, my heart pounded, my whole body prickling from his touch. Every part of my body throbbed, including my libido, who hadn’t gotten the memo that these dudes were off limits.

If this was any other situation, I’d totally be down for a threesome. I’d take both of these men, along with a bottle of Hershey chocolate and a can of whipped cream in a heartbeat. But these guys were off limits. If they discovered who I was, I’d be dead.

“I don’t know who you think you are.” Demons, I added in my mind. “But I can turn away anyone I want, and, unfortunately for you,
