glinted off the rear view and hope blossomed until she realized Hector would be coming from the direction she had been going toward, not where she had been.

Praying hadn’t ever been her thing, but it seemed a good idea now. The new arrival stopped behind her and she bit her lower lip.

“Ms. Maden? My name is Jayden. Hector sent word you had car trouble. I was closer. I’m coming up to the front driver’s side.”

She didn’t respond.

A beam of light pushed through the interior and seconds later a dark skinned man peered at her. He grinned and she responded in kind.

Jayme took his offered hand and went with him to his vehicle. Beyond grateful to no longer be alone in a dead vehicle.

“We have about two hours until we are there. Why don’t you get some sleep?”

“Why are you heading out here?”

“My sister is there and I wanted to say hi.”

“Must be nice,” she said before yawning.

“It is. Sleep. You are safe.”

She believed him a drifted off before the truck made it up the incline she had climbed.

Cian paced, unease about something filling him. His beast wanted to prowl free, claim some of this area for his own. It was not to be. His was elsewhere, waiting for him to return.

This had been the final clue they had been given to try and find the bastard who had raped their mothers and put bombs in him as well as his siblings.

A remote village there had been rumors that one of the people who lived here knew the one who could do this work. Unfortunately, that person was not due back for a few more days.

He’d been given a hut of his own, his half-sister and her mate had their own.

The rumble of a truck pulled him from his musings. Stepping to the doorway he leaned and waited to see who this was.

His cat roared low and deadly, seconds later the reason came to him.

Jayme Maden.

Their first meeting had been in some remote cold climate when he’d laid eyes on his half siblings for the first time.

Her scent had filtered through the blowing weather and had almost taken him to his knees. The moment had seen her, his beast had been primed to fight for two unmated males, his brothers were surrounding her. Maintaining his cold composure around her was hell. But he did and spent much of his time in the cold hoping the need would wane.

It hadn’t. A fact only solidified by his current state and why his cock was fully erect and thick with need.

A growl emerged at the cheetah scent mingling with hers. Razor sharp claws pushed through his fingertips as he wanted to tear and maim, as his canines slid from his gums.

“Jayme.” Hector turned over to her and drew her close for a hug.

Cian released a low warning rumble. Even so he held still. The one saving grace was she did not remain close to Hector but turned to the vehicle and reached for her bags.

“We have them. You go in and eat.”

She accepted and he left the hut as soon as she headed for a dwelling.

“I will take them.” He grabbed all four bags and stepped back. The cheetah eyed him but didn’t say a word.

He walked away and Cian went to where he knew she would be soon. He had just placed the last bag down when he smelled and heard her.

“Thank you for carrying those in for me.”

He turned and her steps faltered. Her tongue snuck out to swipe along her lower lip. His beast roared in return. It took all his will power to remain where he was and to appear as unaffected as he tried to portray.

“You.”

He nodded. “Me.”

Jayme regained her confidence, not that she lacked any, and strode toward him.

“Any more bombs in you, get someone else to take them out.”

“Not very doctor of you. Allowing me to die because you are scared to touch me.”

Rebar replaced her spine and her eyes delivered daggers at him as she stopped before him.

“I’m is not scared of touching you. What I am is pragmatic. You show up and bullets follow. I don’t have any desire to be shot.”

He crossed his arms. “You didn’t get shot. I had you under my body. You were perfectly safe.” Cian smirked. “From the bullets. Besides you are out here, so why is this different?”

“You aren’t bulletproof. I still could have been shot.”

“Weren’t.”

“Could have been.”

Cian moved closer, needing her scent over him. He loved sparring with
