Hold Firm (Biker Daddy Bodyguards #1) - Sue Brown Page 0,2

that mantra on repeat in his head. Quinn couldn’t remember the last time he’d seen a boy so much in need of a Daddy.

“So why pick me as your bodyguard?”

“I didn’t,” Cade said bitterly. “I need security for an event I’m going to. Liam said he knew just the guy, and James—Standish—set up the meeting. I thought I was getting a team of bodyguards from CDR.”

“You still can. Suited and booted.” He wasn’t going to force his way into Cade’s life. “CDR has teams who could work with you.”

“I just want to be left alone.”

The pain tore at Quinn. He wanted to take Cade in his arms and protect him from the world, but Cade wasn’t his. What did they expect from him? He stood and walked to the door, flinging it open.

“Where’re you going?” Cade asked.

“Nowhere. I just need information.”

Quinn whistled to attract Dominic and Standish’s attention. Dominic scowled at being summoned like a dog. Quinn ignored him and walked around the table to stand behind Cade who looked up at him.

“Don’t you want to sit down?”

“No.”

The two men came in. Dominic sat where Quinn had been. Standish went to sit next to his client, but Quinn shook his head and pointed to a seat next to Dominic. The lawyer looked as if he was going to protest, but Dominic said, “Sit down, Standish.”

When Standish took his place, Quinn spoke. “Let’s start again and cut the bullshit. Why do you want me to be Cade’s bodyguard?”

“You know why,” Dominic said over Standish’s spluttering.

“Say it so there’s no mistake.”

“Cade is headlining the entertainment at the bike expo event. It’s a big deal. He needs someone who can fit in.”

Quinn shook his head. “You’ve got half a dozen guys who ride motorbikes. Jace or Padraig would do.”

“He needs someone who looks like you,” Dominic said.

“Why?”

He needed it spelled out, so they were all clear. People didn’t call him if they just wanted a bodyguard.

Dominic huffed. “He needs a Daddy. Strada needs to know Cade is off the market.”

Finally.

“You’re making a point or baiting him?”

“Both.”

“Am I there as his bodyguard, fake boyfriend, or Daddy?” Quinn felt Cade twitch and laid a hand on his shoulder to calm him.

“All of the above,” Dominic said.

“I don’t need a boyfriend, and I definitely don’t need a Daddy.”

Quinn squeezed Cade’s shoulder again and he subsided. Cade took direction so well. It was such a shame he’d been abused by a true bastard.

Quinn knew Dominic didn’t miss a trick. The man knew how to read body language and knew exactly why Quinn stood behind Cade.

Standish seemed less certain. “Cade, CDR think it’s best you have someone who will fade into the background.”

Cade tilted his head to stare at Quinn. “Fade?”

Quinn understood Cade’s dubious tone. Normal bodyguards faded into the background. With his gruff features and wearing leather head to toe, Quinn would stick out like a sore thumb to anyone who didn’t know Cade.

“How long is the assignment?” He directed his question at Dominic.

“Two weeks to cover this event. Cade is traveling to London at the end of the month. Quickfire Securities is taking over.”

Quinn had to bite back the “No!” threatening to spill out. Cade was not his boy. He didn’t want another boy. He was a bodyguard for two weeks. End of assignment. He made rent.

“We want to get Strada before Cade leaves Seattle.”

Quinn nodded. He was merely there as bait. He didn’t like the idea, but he understood. The last thing they wanted was Strada traveling to London and causing chaos over there. Two weeks to catch an abuser… If Quinn let him live.

Cade

Cade hated to be seen. This man saw him.

He didn’t want to be in this tight-assed office. He’d had a full-blown screaming tantrum when his management team had insisted he needed a full-time bodyguard. If he’d screamed like that in front of Eric he’d have been put over his knee and spanked so hard he’d have found it difficult to sit down for a week, but they just soothed and placated him and still he found himself here. He didn’t want to be soothed and placated. He needed to be told what to do and disciplined when he was naughty. Cade pressed his lips together. He missed Eric and that was all kinds of sick considering what Eric had done to him. Cade hated himself for needing his Daddy.

Cade resented the fact that he was being forced to have a bodyguard or a security team. More people invading his life. He
