He's Coming in Hot (Salacious Summer Singe #6) - J. D. Light Page 0,2

makeshift teeter-totter and Ricki on the other, preparing to climb on behind him.

He'd surprisingly centered the toybox lid on top of a vase flipped over on its side, and though the whole thing looked a bit on the dangerous side, I was impressed with his ingenuity.

"I don't think…" I trailed off when somehow, the thing teetered perfectly, and all four children started to giggle. "Hmm, that shouldn't be physically possible," I said, lowering myself even further to peer under the thing, trying to figure out if there was more to the device than I was seeing. "Is this a magic seesaw or what?"

"Hi," someone said out of nowhere, and I jerked, smacking my head on the underside of Arden and Calen's side of the teeter-totter, and nearly getting my head squished as they were on the way down.

I jerked back quickly, rubbing my head and turning to look into the smiling eyes of an older omega.

"Hi," I said stupidly, knowing immediately who he was just by the way he was staring at me like some kind of predator, and not at all in a sexual way.

"I'm Mark, but you can call me Da. You're Newell, right?"

I nodded, licking my lips, unsure whether to stick out my hand for a shake or not. "Yes."

I was relieved for a brief moment when he took my outstretched hand, but that only lasted as long as it took for him to jerk me forward into his arms where he gave me a tight squeeze.

Oh, damn. I'd been warned about this as well. The man could be utterly terrifying, but he gave amazing hugs.

"I've heard so much about you," he said brightly as he continued to hug me. "And then we met Maddox, and he talks about you a lot too."

What? How else would he have heard so much about me? This whole family baffles me.

"That's… uh… nice?"

He chuckled, still gripping my shoulders. "Wow, you really are adorable. He said you were."

What the… I'm twenty-seven. Why the hell would Maddox say that? I'm older than him. "Thanks."

"Do you have a significant other?" He seemed awfully eager for the answer for a married man, in my opinion.

"No," I said slowly. How was I going to turn him down if he asked me out? Were he and his husband into something kinky like one of them watching, or was he looking for a threesome? What if he just wanted to cheat?

I thought about telling him I was a virgin. That had made people uncomfortable before––though at the time, that hadn't been my intention, merely a fact I'd been sharing––but then I remembered that Maddox had told me not to tell people that, since there were those out there that might take that as an invitation to try to be my first.

He smiled brightly, making me cringe. Shit, how does he do that with his eyes. He almost looked like that drooling clown with glowing eyes I'd once seen on a horror movie.

"Are you––"

"Da," an omega that looked to be a few years younger than me said, throwing his arm around the man's shoulders, his voice holding a dry warning.

A small smirk danced along the older omega's lips, as he glanced sideways. "Yes, Riley?"

"Don't."

"I'm just asking questions," he said innocently, before frowning over my shoulder. "What's wrong with you?"

I turned to find an alpha who could only be his husband standing not far behind me, looking down at his phone with a frown.

"Wayne sent me a friend request," he said in a deep voice as he glanced up at his husband, cringing slightly.

"Wayne? As in Wayne the asshole?" His creepy smile slipped away to reveal something even more terrifying as his cold gaze settled on the device in his husband's hand, and I actually stepped back so I wouldn't get somehow caught in the way if lasers actually shot from the man's eyes.

Not that they would. That was only in movies and comics… I think.

"I really think he's the only Wayne we know," Devon Foster said dryly, and I blinked looking over to the other omega who seemed completely unaffected by the scary man he was leaning against.

These were the bravest men I'd ever met. There was something terrifying about Mark Foster's face right then. If I thought the predatory look from before was scary, it was nothing compared to Mark Foster's expression in that moment.

I actually shuddered, wishing I hadn't somehow found myself in the middle of this situation.

Mark crossed his arms over his chest, his eyes
