delicious warm brownie sometime in the future, his best bet was to go along with the vampires.

“Fine. Am I allowed to drive my car?” Hyde asked.

The creepy but hot vampire in front of him raised a brow. “One of them will drive it. You will ride in the car with me,” the vampire said.

Hyde weighed his options again and huffed a breath. Whatever. He was about to freeze his damn balls off anyway. He took his keys out of his pocket and tossed the keys toward the vampires to his right.

“Don’t leave a fucking scratch on my car,” he warned.

“It’s a piece of shit with scratches on it already,” one vampire retorted.

It was true, but Hyde didn’t care. “Yeah, and if I find any new scratches or dents on it, I will put my foot so far up your ass you will taste the leather.”

Hyde thought better of it. What were the chances he would get out of a den full of vampires alive? His rust bucket of a car wouldn’t be his first choice of an escape car. “On second thought, just leave it here. When our little get-together is over, I’ll just come back here to get it.” The less shit he left behind at the vampire’s house, the better. He needed people not to track him so easily.

The creepy hot vampire actually fucking snickered at Hyde’s comment before turning. “This way, Hydetticus Moonbead.” The man drew out Hyde’s name.

If Hyde wasn’t irritated, he’d think the man was flirting with him. Ha, a vampire flirting with a necromancer—yeah, that’s like water flirting with fire or a vampire and a werewolf making out. It just doesn’t mix—natural enemies and shit.

Hyde stepped behind the creepy hot vampire and kept up with him. The vampire was a little taller than him, maybe by an inch or two. Damn, if he wasn’t a vampire, I’d be all over that. Hyde huffed out a breath. He couldn’t help but realize his luck was still shit. Twenty-eight years later and he still had bad luck. He shifted the groceries in his arms as they approached a black car with tint so thick it was impossible to see inside.

Hyde wasn’t the praying type—he left that to his old man—but he sent a quick prayer to the moon, hoping with all hope he wasn’t about to die. The vampire opened the door and ushered for Hyde to enter. Hyde again was left with the decision to fight or just go along. The warmth from the car was all too inviting, and it was the deciding factor for Hyde. He gave away his last opportunity at freedom the moment he slipped into the car.

He groaned. Of course they had to have heated seats. He shook his head—vampires didn’t even get cold. They were corpses that had a bit more life in them than the ones buried six feet under. The creepy hot vampire slid in next to Hyde, his leg touching Hyde’s. Again Hyde had to remind himself that the man next to him was his natural enemy, and he moved his leg away.

“So any reason his anus wants to meet me?” Hyde asked.

He didn’t look at the vampire, but he felt eyes on him and caught the driver and the other vampire in the front glaring at him. They bared their fangs at him, but Hyde relaxed further in the comfortable plush seat and bared his blunt human teeth.

“See, I can do it too,” Hyde said to them in a mocking tone.

It pissed off the driver and the vampire in the passenger seat, and Hyde chanced a glance toward the off-limits vampire next to him and caught a smirk before it disappeared.

“Prince Timeus has his reasons,” the hot creepy vampire said.

Hyde rolled his eyes. “Great, so he wants some medicinal herbs to help with shoulder pain or a crystal to stick up his ass to help relax?” Hyde asked.

He wasn’t ready for it, and he chided himself for it. A hand wrapped around his throat so fast, and he was pushed against the door before his head hit the cold window. A thud that was painful, nearly hard enough to knock him out. Hyde ground his teeth to keep the groan back. He dropped his grocery bag, and his reflexes to use his magic were there, fuck he wanted to but if he did, he was good as dead. He flexed his fingers a few times, reminding himself he was still alive, and the vampire wasn’t
